Fraxel II: The Latest Breakthrough in Resurfacing

The Fraxel II (also known as the Fraxel 1500) is the newest resurfacing solution available to turn back the clock on aging and sun-damaged skin. Providing the benefits of traditional skin resurfacing without significant downtime and risks, Fraxel II improves wrinkles and acne scarring. Board-certified dermatologist Amy Forman Taub, MD of Lincolnshire, IL is one of the first physicians to offer the upgraded Fraxel treatment; she says, "The results so far have been impressive. Treatments with the Fraxel II have by far produced the most dramatic improvement in melasma and acne scarring that we've seen. We've also treated patients with sun damage, surgical or traumatic scars, wrinkles and textural changes, all with exciting results."

Fractional resurfacing is the newest modality in facial rejuvenation - more effective than non-ablative collagen remodeling, less invasive than the traditional CO2 or erbium laser resurfacing. The gold standard in fractional resurfacing is the Fraxel laser, manufactured by Reliant Technologies.

The Fraxel laser produces a myriad of deep microscopic columns of tissue coagulation, while leaving the surrounding tissue untouched. This uninjured tissue allows for more rapid wound healing. Recently, Reliant Technologies launched the Fraxel II. The main difference between the original Fraxel and the Fraxel II is that the density of the columns of tissue coagulation is decreased, leading to less pain, and a reduced dispersion of heat (which minimizes both pain and side effects). This reduced density also enables the practitioner to use higher energies and treat more deeply, enabling more effective and
