Cleansing
No matter what our schedules hold -- this step is not an option to miss. It removes dead surface cells, makeup, and excess oils which preps skin for the next step.

Options: (general rule) oily/combination: tend to lean toward bars, foams, and washes. normal/dry/aging/sensitive: creamy lotion textures to even balms.

Moisturize
Delivers water, plumps up surface lines and softens the skin.

Options: (general rule): oily/normal: more of a light fluid texture dry: enriched and or whipped formulas.

Protect
Make SPF a priority! The sun can be unkind and damaging with mistreated use. An SPF of 15 or higher with a UVA and UVB protection. Word of advice: Apply sunscreen 30 minutes before venturing into the sun.

Option 3

Outdoor Sun care - when spending a considerable amount of your day outside, apply a SPF of 15 or 30. For the face - this would go over your moisture not under.
Full Cover - Non chemical sun products work best for sensitive skins. Smart ingredients to look for: titanium dioxide or zinc oxide.
Daily Care - moisturizer with sunscreen at least 15 or higher. Easy application - this needs no thinking skills.

Exfoliate
I have positioned exfoliating last - this is something you can do 1-3 times a week, depending on your skins condition and what you are trying to achieve. Exfoliating takes your skin to a whole other level - giving you fresh glowing skin - lifting away dead skin cells, refining the surface of skin, and giving optimal benefits in the penetration of your moisturizing/treatment products.

Option 4

Masks and Scrubs - The first generation of exfoliation. For a quick polish and pick me up when skin tends to look tired. Oily/combo skins - 2-3 times a week Dry: 1 maybe 2 times a week (again if not using in conjunction with AHA or BHA's).
Alpha Hydroxy Acids: Best know as Glycolic acid - Is the gold standard in the medical industry and most effective at improving overall appearance to the skin. There are various percentages out there -- rule of thumb - if you are a first timer-start out with the lowest percentage amount and slowly build up.
Beta Hydroxy Acids: Best known as salicylic acids most commonly known to targeting acne, improve skin tone, reduce inflammation, as well as creating the appearance of smaller pores.
Alpha and Beta Hydroxys: can be a blend of any of the Alpha and Beta Hydroxy family - can be milder when used as a blend. Targets various skin concerns, from aging to acne.
